Project Title: The neuroendocrine underpinnings of winter phenotype polymorphism – what can we learn from nonresponding individuals?
Project Description: The aim of the project is to determine the mechanistic underpinnings of the polymorphism of winter phenotype in the Siberian hamster (Phodopus sungorus) population. Since global climate change alters many aspects of the seasonal response, polymorphism of winter phenotype becomes more frequent. This project will allow better understanding the phenomenon of this polymorphism, and ultimately a mechanism of photoresponsiveness
