Description of the project |
In my Doctoral research I will be focusing towards deciphering and then over-expressing lipid biosynthesis related genes thus enhancing the lipid productivity in marine alga Nannocloropsis sp. |
Following are my main objectives and characteristics : 1) Deciphering the effect of lipid metabolism on the overall cell metabolism by comparative Transcriptomic analysis between wild type and previously developed DGTT 5 over-expressed mutants of Nannochloropsis sp. 2) Observing and characterizing the isoforms of DGAT encoding genes getting over-expressed under different stress conditions by using RT-PCR 3) By using CRISPR-Cas9 technique selectively knocking off the TAG encoding genes and their expression profiling by RT-PCR approach 4) Over-expressing selective DGAT encoding genes with knocking off the TAG lipases The project is conducted in cooperation with: 1) Prof. Zhi-Yan (Rock) Du, University of Hawaii at Manoa, College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, Department of Molecular Biosciences & BioEngineering, Honolulu, USA 2)Prof. Christoph Benning, Michigan State University, Plant Biology Laboratories, East Lansing, USA Principal supervisor: dr hab.
