Phosphodiesterases in higher plants – the missing element in cyclic nucleotide signal transduction in plants
Title of the project | Phosphodiesterases in higher plants – the missing element in cyclic nucleotide signal transduction in plants |
Primary and secondary scientific disciplines | – biology
– chemistry |
Description of the project | Characteristics and main objectives of the research project:
The aim of the project is to find, analyse at the genetic, biochemical and functional level new plant phosphodiesterases and to determine their role in plant physiology. The project implementation includes the following main stages: · Bioinformatics searching and analysis of selected plant proteins with PDE activity · Purification and biochemical analysis of proteins obtained by recombination in bacterial systems (overexpression, purification, complete biochemical analysis, enzymatic activity, in vivo analysis in bacterial mutants) · Functional analysis in planta – creating a PDE mutants, determination of the physiological role and PDE in vivo activity The project is conducted in cooperation with the University of Perugia, Italy Principal supervisor: Dr hab. Krzysztof Jaworski, prof. NCU Subsidiary supervisor: Dr Anna Kozakiewicz Foreign scientific advisor: Prof. Christoph Andreas Gehring |
